SAVE THE DATE for the third annual Wings and Wildflowers Festival to be held October 3-5, 2014.
The Second Annual Wings and Wildflowers Festival was held October 4-6, 2013 at Hickory Point Recreational Park in Tavares, Florida. Thank you to all who participated in the 2nd Annual festival. It was a huge success! Guests, Volunteers, Sponsors, Speakers and Exhibitors are all invited to take the survey.
Birds flock to Lake County, Florida, which is home to thousands of acres of preserves and passive park lands – including Lake Apopka Restoration Area, Ferndale Preserve, Emeralda Marsh and the Hilochee Wildlife Management Area. The Festival hopes to make the 2013 Wings and Wildflowers experience unforgettable by holding field trips in these 'birding hotspots' and wildflower havens as well as bringing some the nation's best birding, wildflower and nature experts to the area to share their knowledge. Lake County has enticing outdoor recreational opportunities, particularly for birders, and the Wings and Wildflowers Festival will offer visitors an opportunity to fall in love with Lake County’s birds, wildflowers and natural areas.
The Festival was honored to welcome back national television celebrity James Currie , host of the popular NBC Sports show, Nikon's Birding Adventures as one of the Keynote speakers. We were also excited to welcome acclaimed birder and president of the American Birding Association, Jeffrey Gordon, and Florida wildflower expert, Walter Taylor, as additional keynote speakers! The second annual festival boasted over 100 activities and programs during the three-day festival and featured more than 25 birding, wildflower and nature experts!
With Lake County’s reputation as a premier birding location, it is the goal of this festival to enhance awareness and appreciation of Lake County’s quality of life, and support environmental initiatives on behalf of citizens and visitors alike.
